Detroit Service Learning Academy
Detroit Service Learning Academy hosted Detroit Day School for the Deaf to a fun filled day on May 20, 2011. DDSD students and staff were treated to a wonderful lunch and an afternoon of fun games. Students took part in relay races, a hula hoop contest, and sack races.
After the games we had delicious ice cream sandwiches, and we were presented with a check for 300.00. The second graders at DSLA sold candygrams in February and raised 300.00 to donate to our school. We were all very surprised and grateful.
Thank you DSLA for a wonderful day and thoughtful donation.

Celebrate Urban Birds
Mini-Grant
DDSD students have been participating in activities sponsored by Cornell University's Lab of Ornithology such as "The Great Backyard Bird Count" and "Art in Birds/Birds in Art" Challenge.
Our school, out of 650 applicants, was one of 20 finalists for a Mini-Grant to hold a special event planned by students in June.
We are happy to announce that DDSD was one of the applicants selected and awarded a Mini-Grant. Congratulations!
Thank you for your support!
